eBrief Ready Quick Start Guide
Welcome to eBrief Ready. #
eBrief Ready is a secure platform for solicitors, barristers, and courts to share, review, and manage legal documents digitally. It replaces paper and unwieldy PDFs, enabling real-time collaboration and easy document access in court from anywhere.
This guide will walk you through everything you need to get started, from signing in for the first time to sharing your first brief with your team.
Signing in for the first time #
Once your account is set up, go to the eBrief Ready sign-in page, enter your email and password, and complete the two-factor authentication step. 2FA is mandatory for every account, so make sure you’ve got your authenticator app or phone handy the first time you log in.
Understanding matters #
Everything in eBrief Ready lives inside a “matter” — think of it as a dedicated workspace for a single case or project. You’ll create a new matter for each case, and everything you upload, organise, and share happens within that matter’s own space.
Creating your first matter #
Click New Matter, give it a name and a date, and choose whether it’s a Standard matter (your side of the case only) or a Multiparty matter (shared with opposing parties).
For full steps, see Creating a matter.
Organising with folders #
Set up folders to keep your matter structured — for example, separate folders for Pleadings, Affidavits, and Correspondence. You can also choose how documents are sorted within each folder: manually, by date, or by document name, depending on what makes sense for that folder.
For full steps, see Creating folders and subfolders and Sorting documents.
Uploading your documents #
Once your matter exists, you can start uploading files — PDFs, Word documents, emails, and more. You can upload directly through the web app, or drag and drop entire folders at once if you’re bringing across an existing file structure.
For full steps, see Uploading documents.
Making annotations #
As you review documents, you can highlight passages, add comments, and tag key information directly on the page. These annotations sync automatically into any brief or court book that includes the document, so you never have to redo your work.
For full steps, see Annotating documents.
Building a brief or court book #
When you’re ready to compile your documents for court, eBrief Ready can generate a fully indexed, paginated brief in a few clicks — selecting which folders to include and how you want it formatted.
For full steps, see Creating a Brief/Court Book.
Sharing with your team #
Invite colleagues, co-counsel, or the other side into your matter and control exactly what they can see and do — from full editing rights down to upload-only access for a third party who just needs to hand over documents.
For full steps, see Sharing a matter.
