Sharing a Multiparty matter

A Multiparty matter lets you share a single matter with opposing parties, a mediator, or the court, while keeping sensitive work private. Each party gets its own private work area, and a shared area holds documents that everyone can access.

Inviting a new party

  1. Go to your matter Setup
  2. Under Managing parties, select Invite a new party
  3. The user will receive an invitation to join the matter as the matter owner of their party

Note: You can assign one user to each new party you add.

Removing a party

A party can be removed if they have not yet accessed the matter.

Inviting a member to your own party

  1. Click Members in the left panel
  2. Select Invite Member
  3. Enter the member’s email address
  4. Choose their permission level

Sharing documents within a Multiparty matter

  1. Click the Documents tab and click Actions
  2. Select either Add Private Documents or Add Shared Documents
  3. Click select documents to search for your documents
  4. Under Upload to: select one of the following options:
    • Single folder – select a specific folder from the matter
    • Smart Classification – AI feature which will extract data from the document (eg Suggest a title and which folder to upload the file to)
    • Individual folders – manually select which folder each individual document is to be uploaded to
  5. If you are adding shared documents, you will need to check the box “I understand that documents will be visible to all parties”
  6. Click Upload – your documents will now appear in either the shared or private folder as selected

Note: Annotations in a Multiparty matter are private and accessible only to the party that created them. They are never shared between parties.
