Legal Ready is committed to transparency about the AI capabilities within eBrief Ready, including which models are used and how your data is handled.
AI models used #
eBriefReady’s AI-assisted functionality is implemented using Google Vertex AI, running Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash foundation model.
- AI processing is invoked only upon user request
- All AI-generated outputs are subject to review by the user who initiated the request
- Legal Ready does not develop or train the underlying foundation model
- Customer data is not used to train or test the model
As foundation models and available versions may evolve over time, any model updates are managed through Legal Ready’s change management process.
AI governance and policy #
Legal Ready maintains a Responsible Use of AI Policy, which covers:
- Fairness and avoidance of inappropriate bias
- Reliability and validation of AI outputs
- Transparency and explainability
- Safety, security and privacy
- Human oversight
- Accountability and defined responsibilities
- Ongoing monitoring and lifecycle risk management
- Employee awareness and education
This policy reinforces that AI is intended to assist, rather than replace, professional judgment. AI-generated outputs are always subject to human review, and Legal Ready monitors and evaluates its AI capabilities throughout their lifecycle.
Legal Ready’s broader AI and information security governance framework is supported by:
- The Legal Ready Information Security Management System (ISMS) and risk management processes
- The ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Risk Register and Statement of Applicability
- Access control, encryption, incident management and business continuity controls
- Supplier security and cloud service governance
Legal Ready has also established a documented Responsible Use of AI framework and is currently progressing its ISO/IEC 42001 implementation as part of its ongoing AI governance maturity program.
Data handling, residency and retention #
eBrief Ready’s infrastructure operates using:
- AWS Sydney (ap-southeast-2) for the primary application environment
- Microsoft Azure Australia East, where applicable
- Google Cloud Australian regions (australia-southeast1 and australia-southeast2) for AI processing
For AI processing specifically:
- AI processing is performed only for documents explicitly selected by the user
- Documents submitted for AI processing are not retained by the external AI model provider
- Prompts and responses are not retained by Google for model training
- Google prompt caching may temporarily retain prompt data for performance optimisation for up to 24 hours
- Prompt data and AI-generated outputs required by the application are stored securely within the relevant matter, and are protected by the same access controls, encryption and privacy safeguards as the original matter data
- All information associated with a matter, including AI-generated information, is deleted when the applicable matter retention period expires
Data retention is governed by the applicable matter retention period set for your organisation.
